Our blog is back up and running in Year 6!

We have had a great start to the year and have been very busy doing all sorts of things!

On Wednesday we went on a local trip to the Seven Arches Aqueduct on the Meanwood Valley trail. Luckily, the weather was lovely and we were able to walk down to the woodland and learn lots about the nature present in the area, as well as the history of the aqueduct.

We also really enjoyed improving our map reading skills this week by learning about 6-figure grid references. Great fun!

We had a fantastic time this week on our trip to the Forbidden Corner! What a wonderful way to finish off the year!

Today we were in the art studio again continuing our final project. Many of the children have now finished printing their t-shirts and they are looking really effective. We also practised our modelling skills by sculpting a representation of ourselves using clay…

Here are some photos from sports day which took place on Wednesday. We had a fantastic time and would like to thank all the parents and family members who came to support us!

Wednesday was thank a teacher day. We wrote thank you messages online to staff in school who received them by email. We also made thank you cards to give to teachers, TA’s and support staff who help us every day! Thank you everyone!

We recently had a visit from Mr Cooper who told us a little bit about engineering and how buildings are made! We had a go at making some small, solid structures of our own…

Today we started our arts fortnight project and we had a fantastic day in the art studio with Mrs Johnston! We are looking back at memories from our time at ACE primary and studied the work of famous artist Keith Haring for inspiration. Check in again next week for another update!

This week we have been learning about 3d shapes and their properties. We have been investigating nets and making 3D shapes with a variety of different resources.

On Wednesday this week we started a new music unit. We are learning to play ukuleles! We learnt how to hold them and the correct strumming technique. We also learnt the correct tuning for a ukulele: GCEA.
