It wouldn’t be a British picnic party without some poor weather! Unfortunately, we had to have our picnic inside the hall today, but we still had lots of fun as we look forward to the special ceremony this weekend.

We had a lovely, relaxed library session this morning. It’s fantastic to have such a comfortable area in school where we can relax and develop our love of reading!

An important part of being an ACE writer is the process of editing, improving and re-drafting our work. Today we had a great editing session, using different partners to read each others writing; celebrating what was good; identifying mistakes and offering suggestions about how to improve. All writers will re-draft their work and here at ACE primary, we are no different!

This week we are celebrating British Science Week. As we have had a shorter week, we haven’t had as much time for experiments as we would have liked so we will continue our science celebrations into next week.
Today we made copies of our fingerprints and looked closely at them to see if we had loops, whorls or arches!

We had a fantastic music lesson this week, learning to play samba rhythms. We have been learning the names of all the different instruments and we will be getting more opportunity to practise over the coming weeks!

Welcome back everyone! We have had a busy start to the new term with lots of exciting things happening in school.
On Wednesday we returned to Allerton High for another science session with Mr Alcock. The children had a fantastic time as you can see! We demonstrated how hot air rises by making a tea bag fly! We also made a spiral paper snake spin on its own by holding it over a flame. How cool is that?!

Yesterday, 6TC were lucky enough to be visited by a member of staff from the National Holocaust Centre and Museum who delivered a workshop about the lives of Jewish people under Nazi German rule in the 1930s. The children have been very interested in our learning in this topic and very much enjoyed learning more about this deeply sad, but also tremendously important time in history.

Recently we have been learning about the rise of anti-semitism in Nazi Germany in the years before World War II. The children have been taught about some of the key events and changes in society which gradually stripped away the rights of Jewish people living in Germany at this time. This has given the children a greater understanding of how the holocaust came to happen and how governments can influence how people, and wider society, think and behave.
Below we have some examples of work that children have completed. They were asked to create a comic strip which showed some of the events which happened in Nazi Germany as anti-semitism grew.
