Today we marked Remembrance Day in school with coming together for moments of reflection as a year group in the Main Hall. We shared at work completed in class and a prayer we wrote together.
We then joined in the national two minutes silence at 11am to remember those who have lost their lives during war.

As we come back to school we are starting our fractions unit in maths. We will be doing a lot of work on fractions in the next few weeks!
Today we started by learning about equivalent fractions and how to simplify fractions. This is a really important area of the maths curriculum and it would be great if you could quiz the children at home!

October is Black History Month and this week in 6C we learnt all about the HMT Empire Windrush and the so-called ‘Windrush Generation’ who were the first wave of migrants who came to Great Britain after the Second World War.

Today as part of our science work we went into our school grounds to hunt for mini beasts! We all had so much fun and there was a lot of excitement and a lot of screaming!
6C had a lovely time on Wednesday morning with their buddies. The Reception children had decorated boxes and filled them with things related to them. A great way for us to get to know our buddies a bit better!
In Week 2, we went on a local area visit to Adel Woods, which is part of the Meanwood Valley Trail. This is part of our Year 6 curriculum and ties into our current reading, geography and science work in class.
The children had a great time exploring the woodland in our local area, improving their geography field skills and identifying plants and animals that are present in our local area. We also collected leaves which we brought back to school and used them to support our work on classification in science!
